| This page is to keep you updated on changes
to my website and to post things of interest.
July 15th 2008 - I have updated my homepage , the Swords page, the sticks page, the jake abraud page with some images of the hammerin at Owen Bushe's forge I attended in London this spring as well as some stuff we got up to during Don Fogg's sword course in London. Also I have a cudgel called the woods ward up for sale on the Available page.
April 18 2008 - some updates to my website, I've just added a new link on the links page to Owen Bush's Bushfire Forge.
Aug. 9th 2007 - I have added a few things to the website. I added a movie to my movies page. the movie was filmed in 2005 so some of the specific info is dated, but they did a really nice job with it. It was filmed for a show called 'hand made' by Micheal Diot and runs about 15 minutes; you can see it here. I will be adding some other updates soon
Oct.23d 2006 - I just added a new page to my progress
section here It is a narative pictorial
of the making of the Black UlJake and Anam a sword and knife collaboration
I did with Uli Hennicke a German bladesmith and friend of mine.
I have also updated my Jake Abraud page, I finally added a picture
of me recieving my award this spring; I recieved the provincial
emerging Artist of the year award for 2005, wich was a really
big honour. At the award ceremonies I met Allisa Palmer who was
Directing "the Lord of the Rings" stage production in
Toronto, and she invited me to go see it there, so at the end
of April I flew to Toronto to see the play and get a tour backstage,
and see the stage swords that they where using. Very interesting.
The play was very grand, and the hobbits where excellent, as well
as the orcs and crazy pupet horse black riders, it was all a bit
overwhelming for me, having been a huge tolkien fan since I was
a baby and my mum read me the LOTR. Anyway still have quite a
bit of work to do on the website, but little time. I have to get
back to the forge where I am working on a five bar composite viking
sword with a 30 some inch blade that is two inches wide at the
hilt. thanks for checking in.
March 2nd 2006 - Bora da, happy St. Davids Day to
all you fellow Cymru! I have just added a new piece to my available
page, it is the blade that was featured in the Masters of Fire
exhibition in Macau, I'm also including an exhibition catalogue
with it - check it out here.
I'm almost done the scabbard on my wootz sword that
i have been working on. It's pretty cool, it is a series of narative
friezes, I just have to cast the fittings. Thanks for your interest
everybody, I've got more pieces in the works so keep an eye on
the available page over the next months.
Jan. 5th 2006 - Happy New Year! I've got an Anglo-Saxon
Broken Back Seax up on my
available page.
Sep. 18th 2005 - I've got a sword in the first ever
museum exhibition of international contemporary bladesmiths. The
show will be running from October 2005 to January 2006, at the
Macao Museum of Art. The New Brunswick Arts Board very graciously
awarded me with my second emerging artists grant to help pay for
the time that was required to produce a piece for this exhibition.
I have posted a link to more information on my home page, or you
can check it out here.
I have also added an Artistic Statement
to my site.
I just got a copy of the New Blade publication "Blade's
Guide to Making Knives" There is an excellent article
on sword forging By Don Fogg, which is a great refresher coarse.
Don is amazing at breaking things down into easily explained steps.
He included several pictures of my swords in his article; this
is a real honor for me, not only to have some images published,
but to have them published in an article by Don. I don't know
of another person who has done more for swordsmithing, or helped
more aspiring swordsmiths out. He's a truly humble man and one
of the best ambasators for bladesmithing there is.
Sept. 17th 2005 - I just added a new page called
